You Hear the Lord: Trust His Timing

As I meditate on the Lord this morning, I see that in this hour there are many who are questioning their ability to hear the Lord for their lives correctly and you’ve just about believed the lie that what you heard from the Lord was just you telling yourself what you wanted to hear. Why? Why are you believing this lie? Because you made assumptions on the timing of the fulfillment of His word.
We love immediate satisfaction and fulfillment, don’t we? What we don’t like is waiting. We always assume that when God gives us a word, it will come to pass either immediately or very soon. But when it doesn’t? What happens then? The enemy begins to sow doubt in our mind. “Maybe it wasn’t God. Maybe it was just me.” Don’t allow the devil to mess with you! Wait on the Lord and trust in His goodness, willingness, and ability to fulfill His word to you. Be patient. He is working it all out for your highest good, in His good time.
Why does the Lord tell us things so far in advance? Why does He make us wait? Because it develops trust in Him. It develops faith and our intimate relationship with Him. And it develops godly character in us. Hang on to what He has said! Be faithful to His word in your heart. Your Father in heaven is true to His word.
“From the depths of despair, O LORD, I call for your help. Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer. LORD, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you. I am counting on the LORD; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.” (Ps.130:1-6 NLT)
